We All Fall Down

I've  had the strangest thing happen in the last year or so. I've suddenly started sleepwalking for the first time in my life. From waking Jon up to INSIST that he was sleeping under an invisible blanket to trying to walk out the backdoor into the yard on a very cold night (thank goodness the door was locked and I was too clumsy in my sleep to open it) my brain is doing something strange.

I take several medicines for various things and I suspect one of those is the culprit.  I will talk to my doctor, But in the meantime I keep doing things like last night where I actually picked up and moved the little table next to my side of the bed to an upside down position in the living room. I have absolutely no recollection of doing this, which is a really freaky feeling.

Have you ever sleepwalked? How bad was it? Did it turn out that it was medication-related?

  1. I don't have much personal experience with it, but I know that my cousin used to sleep walk A LOT! I don't know if he still does, but he did it often when he was younger. I think it is related to traumatic events in his childhood -- my aunt lost her husband in a freaky car accident when my cousins were only 4 and 6 years old and I'm sure they were traumatized. It was my younger cousin (a boy) who sleep-walked. Now I'm curious to know whether he continued to do it as he grew up (he's now 45 like me, we're the same age and were classmates. He's my favorite male cousin).

  2. My oldest daughter used to sleepwalk. She seemed to do it when the temperature in her room was too high. She was also dealing with some social challenges in school -- nothing remotely like bullying. The other kids liked her, she just didn't relate to them. She eventually found her niche in middle school and especially high school. Being too warm really seemed to be the main issue for her.
